SANTA RITA AND CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS ORGANIZE MILITARY APPRECIATION EVENT AND CALLING CARD GIVEAWAY AT RAMSTEIN AIR FORCE BASE
Military members serving in Germany invited to FREE event
RAMSTEIN, GERMANY (Feb. 1, 2012) – In support of military men and women serving overseas, Santa Rita and Cell Phones for Soldiers will play host to thousands of military members and their families during a special military appreciation event and calling card giveaway at Ramstein Air Force Base (Germany) on Feb. 4.
U.S. military members currently serving in Germany are encouraged to attend the event located at Army & Air Force Exchange Service KMCC Center Court beginning at 1300 (1 p.m.). Free calling cards from Cell Phones for Soldiers and a reception courtesy of Santa Rita will be provided to those in attendance.
Cell Phones for Soldiers works to bridge the communication gap for military families during deployments. The charity was founded in 2004 by Brittany and Robbie Bergquist at the ages of 12 and 13. Since its inception, the program has distributed more than 150 million minutes of free talk time to military families.
“Allowing military men and women to keep in touch with family and friends during deployment has been my life’s mission,” said Brittany Bergquist, co-founder of Cell Phones for Soldiers. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to host an event at Ramstein, and I hope to meet as many of our heroes as I can during our visit.”
To support the mission, the Santa Rita brand and parent company, Palm Bay International, have supported Cell Phones for Soldiers since 2007. The relationship has generated enough revenue to send more than four million minutes of talk time overseas.
“Santa Rita wines and Palm Bay International have been proud supporters of the Cell Phones for Soldiers charity for five years,” said Michael Preis of Palm Bay International. “We are pleased to announce that in 2011, our donation of $75,000 has generated more than two million minutes of free talk time, and are thrilled to be able to present this contribution personally to Brittany and Robbie Bergquist in front of the men and women of our armed forces at Ramstein.”
In conjunction to the Ramstein event, a Cell Phones for Soldiers’ sponsored dinner and calling card giveaway at USAG Schweinfurt will assist resident soldiers in calling loved ones at home.
