Chevrolet’s Military Appreciation Month Program Connects Military Families
Norwell, Mass. (Dec. 12, 2011) – Chevrolet and the GM Military Discount announced a donation of $212,000 to Cell Phones for Soldiers, a national charity committed to connecting military families with free communication tools during deployments. The donation was presented to co-founders, Brittany and Robbie Bergquist during the Army-Navy game at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C.
“We are so blessed to have a partner like Chevrolet and General Motors,” said Brittany Bergquist. “Their level of support has not only raised invaluable funds for Cell Phones for Soldiers, but the level of awareness they have created for our charity is truly outstanding. This donation will help thousands of military families especially now during the holidays when connecting with family is so important.”
Funds were raised last May in honor of Military Appreciation Month through the auction of an Honor and Valor Limited Edition Camaro SS performance carand a donation of $100 for every Chevrolet car and truck sold that month. The $212,000 donation will provide 100,000 hours of free talk time for deployed military men and women.
Since the partnership began in 2010, General Motors also has collected more than 70,000 gently-used cell phones for Cell Phones for Soldiers.
