Welcome to the Cell Phones for Soldiers’ Blog! Join the conversation…

Nov 03, 2011

Seven years ago and 8.3 million recycled phones later, Cell Phones for Soldiers has grown into much more than we could have imagined. It’s simply amazing how people like you have passionately helped us donate more than 114 million minutes of free talk time to our troops.

While the service man or woman often faces loneliness and depression during deployment, the family at home suffers with the uncertainty of their family’s safety. If we can eliminate or minimize five minutes of that anguish and put a smile on a military or family member, then Cell Phones for Soldiers has fulfilled its mission.

Over the years, we’ve received thousands of letters from military members overseas as well as mothers, wives, brothers and more telling us how much a call home means. One person told me that having the ability to call home was ‘like a little piece of heaven in the middle of war’. That has really stuck with me over the years and fuels my commitment to troops around the world.

We encourage and welcome your stories here as well as on Facebook. This blog is an avenue for us to unite and encourage each other.

Please share your love and support of our military.

I just managed to collect 127 phones! UND in Grand Forks renews and updates it's cell phones regularly and I just happened to land on these.

Hopefully this is something that UND can get behind and make good use of their used cell phones. Only time will tell.

Great job, great idea, worthy cause.

My daughter Julia and I are honored to be a part of this worthy cause.
Over two years ago, Julia was only 7 years old then, we decided to get involved in Cell Phones For Soldiers as Julia knew 2 people personally who were serving overseas. Julia has collected close to 500 phones and is still working hard to collect as many as she can.
What being involved in CPFS has taught my daughter is that it's not about what we "get", it's about what we "give".
Thank you Cell Phones For Soldiers for all you do to help out our troops!
God Bless You and all who support this cause!

Where can I find the plastic bags for phone deposits. My mom brought one home a while ago but cannot remember where she got it from. I need several bags for a future fundraiser for my campus.

You can donate a phone simply by printing a postage-paid shipping label from the Donate a Gently-Used Phone Tab under "Join the fight." Simply affix it to any envelope or box and drop at the USPS.

To date, EMC Engineering Services has donated over 2000 cell phones to Cell Phones for Soldiers! For the last 3 years, we have educated the community of our ongoing collection drive with participation in the local Christmas parade and a CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS float. Our 2011 entry was honored with several troops representing the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines!

EMC Engineering Services has added CPFS to our corporate web site and our Face Book page.

We greatly appreciate and embrace this opportunity to help our soldiers call home!
